Cinema
Those were the nights of the “late night” films. It was a revolution of sorts in the circa 1990. Suddenly the Friday nights saw a reduction in the sleeping hours, for the films started at 11pm. And those of us fortunate enough to evade the evil eyes of “parent-police”, we had a ball! The first few viewings were all about sleaze, all about cleavage, and all about the three letter magic word called sex. Then things started to settle down. Films such as ‘The Last Metro’, ‘Mephisto’, etc started making inroads. The obscure Goddard was incomprehensible, yes; but somehow there was a realization in all the muffled imageries. And I started to like each of them more and more. ‘The Mirror’ by Tarkovsky, ‘Battleship Potemkin’, ‘Que-Viva-Mexico’ by Eisenstein, were a few of those.
